Mmm. Actually, the title is not so fitting anymore because I've calmed down a little.

Well... Immigration apparently knows that my brother is illegal in Iowa, and the consular officer refused to give my mom a visa because of this. Serves her right. No shit. And based on some random rule the Indonesian Board of Education came up with, this means that my mom will lose her job in December (she's a civil servant). My dad is out of a job, my mom will be. My older brother's illegal. My younger brother is a high school dropout and does nothing all day. My sister is getting shit grades here because she doesn't understand Indonesian. By August this year, I will have wasted 2 years of my life. I've got to start university all over. No shit.

I got accepted in Malmo, but at the last minute my mom changed her mind again about letting me go. She said it was for financial reasons. Then she asked me to go back to Iowa. Mom. Malmo costs $30,000 for all 3 years of study. Iowa costs $15,000 a year, just tuition and fees. Multiply that by 3. Fuck me, I am really bad at math, but I'm pretty sure in this case Iowa would cost more.

Working as an English teacher is pretty nice in prestige, but I only get paid $3 for every 80-minute class I teach. Full-time I would get $150, 50-hours/week-ish. Meanwhile a "Native" speaker gets around $700. Life is fucking unfair all right. That comes spouting out of everybody's mouths, but do we understand that we are the culprits for this injustice? We make life unfair for everybody else.
